Recycled Rhythms

We’re hosting a series of workshops making musical instruments out of old white goods. Over the next two weeks young people from across Oldham are using the insides of washing machines and dishwashers to create drums and trumpets that will feature in a music project culminating in a town centre performance on Saturday 17 April.

We’re always looking for new ways to use our building out of hours and this project by Square One Studios is exactly what we want to do.

JBGroup’s Education and Community Lead Ben Ingham said “When Sam Malik CEO of Square One Studios asked for my help I didn’t really see how we were going to make music with the inside of an old washer but the young people are proving me wrong and it’s brilliant!”
